How To Use a These Grills
Here are some simple step-by-step instructions for using your Delta Heat grill:
- If you haven’t used your grill in a while, or you’ve just replaced an LP tank, do a simple leak test. First, turn all the grill control knobs to OFF. Then turn the main gas supply valve to ON. Prepare a mild soapy solution with 1 part dishwasher soap to 1 part water. Then, spray or sponge some on the hoses and valves. If you have a leak, the gas will cause the soap to make bubbles that will grow.
- Delta Heat recommends that their grills are located a foot from any combustible materials and in a well-ventilated area.
- Make sure you don’t smell any gas!
- Open the grill hood.
- Open the gas supply valve.
- Check the electronic spark igniter by pushing in a knob. You should hear it clicking. If you don’t, then check the 9V battery of the igniter – it might need to be replaced.
- Push in and turn a grill knob counterclockwise. Hold the knob pushed in for 4 seconds. You should hear the igniter and see the flame.
- Release the knob.
- If the grill doesn’t light after 4 seconds, turn off the grill knob and wait 5 minutes for the gas to dissipate before trying again.
- Once the burners are going, close the hood and allow the grill to reach your grilling temperature.
- Load up the grill with delicious grilling meats and vegetables!
Are Delta Heat Grills Easy To Maintain?
Stainless steel can become corroded if you live in a salt air environment or you have a pool. Wind-blown sand can also be harmful. If you have any of these environments, Delta Heat recommends keeping your grill covered when not in use.
Clean the mirror polished hood surface with a non-abrasive, stainless steel cleaner. Be sure to wipe the cleaner in the direction of the mirror polish. To touch-up minor scratches on the mirror surface, you can use a 100-grit sandpaper.
Clean the grates with a brass bristle brush once the grates have cooled slightly after every use. Delta Heat recommends dipping the brush in tap water, then scrubbing the grate. The steam created will help clean the food off the grate. Never spray water onto a hot grate.
Check out the burners periodically. The port holes should be open. You can clean the port holes with a wire pin.
Empty the drip pan after every use to avoid grease fires. Slide it out and clean it, then make sure it is pushed back into place.
Delta Heat cautions grill owners about grilling in windy conditions. The grills naturally allow heat to escape out the back of the grill, except when windy conditions keep heat in. In windy conditions, be careful with the control panel and knobs – they may become very hot. Use an oven mitt or allow heat to escape every 15 minutes by carefully opening the hood.
How Do I Store My Delta Heat Grill?
Delta Heat grills should be covered with a heavy-duty cover over the winter.
Insects and mice love to overwinter in a grill. Give the grill a good cleaning every spring.
