Where Are American Muscle Grills Manufactured? (Are They Actually Made in The USA?)

American Muscle Grills (AMG) say they are proudly made in the USA with parts made in the USA by American workers.

Summerset, the maker of the AMG line, has a manufacturing and distribution plant in southern California.

Who Makes The American Muscle Grill? (Will They Stand Behind Their Products?)

Originating in 2015, Summerset Professional Grills is family owned and operated. American Muscle Grills are made by Summerset Professional Grills in Huntington Beach, California.

Summerset makes several luxury grills, including the Sizzler, TRL and Alturi lines. They offer a complete line of BBQ islands and fire pits.

Forbes Magazine says: “If you have room for just one grill, look no further than this masterpiece.”

What Products Are in The Collection?

American Muscle Grills (AMG) are styled after the ultimate muscle car, a 1966 Ford Shelby GT Mustang. If you love muscle cars (and we do) you’ll love these grills. But the AMG collection of grills aren’t just pretty faces.

American Muscle Grills are fun, beefy, versatile, fast, cooking machines. These grills can go from 0° to 350°F in two minutes

American Muscle Grills are in a hybrid class. They are called dual fuel grills – gas fuel and solid fuel. AMG grills can cook with charcoal briquettes, lump charcoal, wood chunks, and pellet fuel – in addition to propane or natural gas.

Grilling enthusiasts – you don’t need several grills. You get all the grills you need in one beautiful, badass, grill.

The exterior is made with 304-grade stainless steel. The stylish knobs are lit with blue LED lights and the interior is lit with halogen lights. The hood is 16-gauge, double-lined stainless steel with spring assist. The hoods have integrated thermometers and vents for charcoal and wood grilling.

Inside the hood, under the grates, the AMG grill has a unique design with six high gauge steel “flavor” trays. Each tray can be filled with a different solid fuel or you can fill them all with the same fuel. When the solid fuel has burned down, the fine ash falls into the drippings tray for cleanup.

When cooking with gas, the empty trays serve to even out the heat across the grilling surface. The heavy-duty stainless steel burners are covered by V-shaped bars to protect the burners and distribute the heat.

The heavy gauge stainless (we mean really heavy!) custom cast grates themselves are V-shaped. They trap heat at the surface of the grate, instead of allowing it to rise – towards the grillmaster. You can flip the grate over to grill delicate meats like fish and vegetables.

All models have warming racks. Rotisseries are optional, as are infrared sear burners and side burners.

The AMG line includes built in grills and freestanding grills. Both propane and natural gas connections are available.

AMG built in grills come in two sizes, 36 inches and 54 inches. The 36-inch model has five burners, and the larger model has 8.

They also offer both grill sizes as freestanding models on wheeled carts. Both carted models offer plenty of storage for the LP tank and drawers for utensils.

What Size & Weight Are American Muscle Grills?

AMG offers two grill sizes, 36 inches and 54 inches in both built in and freestanding.

The weight of these grills is a testimony to their solid build and heavy components. The built in models weigh from 300 pounds to 500 pounds.

Freestanding, carted, and wheeled models weigh in from 600 pounds to 1,000 pounds.

Do American Muscle Grills Come With a Warranty?

Summerset, the makers of American Muscle Grills, offer the Summerset Lifetime Warranty. They say it’s the best warranty policy in the business.

The American Muscle Grills warranty is limited lifetime on hood, basin, front panel, grates, burner covers and fuel trays. For the stainless steel burners, there is an unlimited lifetime warranty.

For valves, rotisserie motors, thermometers and fixtures, AMG offers a 2-year warranty. For all electrical parts, 1 year.

Do American Muscle Grills Also Make Accessories?

AMG makes several accessories, some for the grills and some to build your ultimate outdoor kitchen. Compared to some other lines we’ve reviewed, AMG offers fewer grill sizes and accessories, but maybe that’s because they want to build the most heavy-duty, versatile grill.

Grill accessories include rotisserie kits, side burners, infrared burners, and grill covers. AMG offers storage components, refrigerators, sinks and bar prep accessories for your outdoor kitchen.

What Do The Reviews Say About These Grills?

We looked at Amazon, BBQ Guys, and Barbeques Galore for reviews. We used verified purchaser reviews, not expert reviews.

We only found 8 reviews (including Amazon!). Of the eight reviews, verified purchasers gave the AMG line of grills 4.7 stars out of 5.

All reviewers loved the versatility of the dual fuel. They were all thrilled to be able to experiment with different grilling methods, all in one grill. Reviewers thought the grills were well-made, hot and they loved AMG’s customer support.

One reviewer called their 36-inch AMG a beautiful beast. This “forever customer” had an optional rotisserie and loved it. Another reviewer, who ranked it 5 stars, called it amazing, loved the versatility, and praised the reversible grates. They had purchased the rotisserie and infrared burner and loved them as well.

The worst review was for a 36-inch freestanding grill. This reviewer gave it 3 stars. The reviewer said that the cart wings weren’t sturdy and that any decorative chrome on the exterior was starting to peel. The reviewer was going to buy a bracket to reinforce the cart wings.

On the positive side, the same reviewer loved the customer support, dual fuel and the grill construction.

How Much Do American Muscle Grills Cost?

American Muscle Grills are built to last and the cost reflects the solid materials. The 36-inch AMG built in is around $7,000 and the 56-inch built in is $9,700.

The 36-inch freestanding cart model starts at $10,000 for a 36-inch grill and tops out with the 56-inch model at $13,700.

How To Use An American Muscle Grill

These steps are for gas grilling only. If you are interested in seeing how to use AMG’s dual fuel system, here’s a good video.

  1. Check for gas leaks from the propane tank or the natural gas connection. You can smell gas or use a soap bubble test.
  2. For gas grilling, preheat for at least 10 minutes or until the grill reaches 500° F.
  3. Open the hood.
  4. Turn all the control knobs to OFF.
  5. Turn on the propane or natural gas.
  6. Stand back as far as you can and still reach the control knobs.
  7. Push and turn any one of the control knobs to the HIGH position. The clicking sound will be the ignition system. The burner should ignite within 2-3 seconds.
  8. If the burner does not ignite, then turn the knob to OFF and wait 5 minutes, then try again.
  9. If you are preheating the gas grill, close the hood. If you are preheating for charcoal or wood, leave the hood open.
  10. Preheat the grill at least 10 minutes on HIGH.
  11. Then, adjust the temperature and grill on!

Are American Muscle Grills Simple To Maintain?

Stainless steel is exceptionally durable and used in professional kitchens everywhere. But it does require some care. Never use abrasive cleaners on stainless steel and always rub in the direction of the grain.

After each use, use a soft, soapy cloth over the exterior and then rinse. Stainless steel sprays work well. For stubborn stains or grease, AMG recommends trying a citrus-based cleaner or Bar Keeper’s Friend.

Food on the grates should burn off. Set one burner to HIGH and close the lid. If you’ve been cooking with solid fuels, then clean out the cold flavor trays by bumping them against the side and letting ash fall down to the drip tray, then empty the drip tray. You can use a vacuum for the drip tray ash.

If you need to scrub the grate, be sure to use only stainless steel or stiff nylon bristles.

How Do I Store My American Muscle Grill?

During the grilling season, your AMG grill should be covered when not in use. A cover will protect it from salt water, chlorinated water, and wind-blown sand.

In the winter, if you have a freestanding model, roll it under cover if possible. A garage or storage shed works well. Otherwise, buy a heavy-duty cover.
